What do you see, son of man?

What do you see, son of man?

The whole cosmos is full of answers, whilst our heart has countless questions. There is a curtain between the two in order to prevent us from finding the answers for the questions that we have in our minds. This curtain was formed by the defiance of Adam. It is not a screen that blindfolds our eyes, but our perspective.

What? A curtain that blindfolds our perspective? Even if you see the answer of your question through your own eyes more than thousands of times, you will not realize that it is the answer that you have been seeking for.

For instance, when Abraham lived in the wilderness, he saw the sky and the stars in it every night. Will I have an offspring? Will I have atleast one child to pass on my name and to carry on my lineage? These sort of questions always kept bothering him. One day, when God intervened and said to Abraham calling him out of his tent, “look up at the sky, what you see is your answer,” that is when Abraham found his answer.

God could have told Abraham inside the tent itself that He would greatly increase his numbers and that he would be the father of many nations. Why did God tell him to look up at the sky? Christ Jesus could have said simply that the Heavenly Father will nurture you and clothe you. Why did he tell them to look at the birds of the air and to see the flowers of the field? Because He wants to teach our eye how to see the truth. He wants to teach our ear to listen to His Words.

Have you noticed in the Bible when God showed a prophecy to a prophet and asked him frequently, “what do you see, son of man?” And “whoever has ears, let them hear,” was frequently told by Christ, have you noticed this? The crucial basic part in spiritual growth is seeing through the spiritual eye and listening through the spiritual ear. That is how we can do our deeds in the spiritual realm to harvest its fruit in the physical world.

An infant is born with eyes and ears. It has the capability to see and hear. But it could not comprehend what it sees or what it listens. Only when the child learns a language, and the knowledge behind the dialect, he knows that it is a table when he sees a table. He could go to the person who calls him, “come here.”

Our spirit is also similar to infants. A person’s spiritual eye and spiritual ear is opened the moment he is saved. But they cannot be employed until he learns the spiritual language and the knowledge in it. He has to learn it only from the Holy Spirit of God. Only then his spiritual eye  and spiritual ear can be beneficial to him. Well, what is the profit in learning the spiritual language and discernment and habituating our spiritual senses?

We will begin to walk in the light. Yes, that is the prominent benefit. “The one who walks in the light will not stumble,” says John 11:9,10. What does it mean to walk in the light? God has kept answers around us. The answer could be a Biblical verse or a scene that happens in front of us Or it also could be an event. When you look at the Old Testamentary prophets, they would play an action as a skit, and they would say a verse for it as a prophecy. Which means the action and the verse are the same.

Not just that, your answer could be a mind picture, a dream, a petite intonation in your ears, or in your spirit. Everything is a verse. It is altogether the language of the Holy Ghost. Moreover, Hebrews 10:16 says that a copy of the Word of God is engraved in our hearts and minds.

The prosperity of prosperity is living, immersed in the Word of God that surrounds us, that is inside and outside of us as well. Just having the Word of God in the book, without even discerning it is the Scarcity of the Word in the last days, told earlier by the prophets. The one who sees through his spiritual eye will not face this situation certainly.

Only after the creation of humans on the earth, human languages were formed. However, the language (the Word) of the Almighty is prior to all. That is the Word which created the whole Universe. The Word that was translated into human dialects Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic is the Holy Bible that we have now. I praise God for this great, nobel Book. But never lower the value of the Bible as just a book.

As the whole Cosmos was created through the Word, we can see the Word everywhere in everything around us. God could speak to us through anything. Hence, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,  their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun,” sings the Psalmist (Psalm 19:1-4). They have no speech, they use no words, yet it is a verse. From this do we not comprehend that verse exists in language as well as in extra-linguistic forms?

As a man swamped in the sea is surrounded by the waters, the man whose spiritual eye is open is surrounded by the verse. He can see the Word of God everywhere in everything. He can converse with God 24/7. It does not mean that we do not have to read the Bible at all. If you can see the verse in everything then we should realize how glorious the experience of reading the verse is! When the one whose spiritual eyes are open reads the Bible, he will experience the miracles mentioned in the Bible by reading it (Psalm 119:18).

When we experience such great things, the spiritual growth of ours which was like a baby crawling will become faster like the galloping of a cheetah. The curiosity to converse with God everyday will become hundreds of times higher. The expectation of a wonder to happen in a day will change that day joyous and meaningful. I presume that is how Enoch conversed with God, engrossed in it and went away with Him.
