He will subsume even after rejecting
A man of God prophesies to Eli that the priesthood given to their family is going to be taken because of the misdemeanor of his sons Hophni and Phinehas, and it will be given to a faithful priest who does according to what is in the heart and mind of God. Read 1 Samuel chapter 2, verses 27-36. The last two verses are shown below:
“I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in my heart and mind. I will firmly establish his priestly house, and they will minister before my anointed one always. Then everyone left in your family line will come and bow down before him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread and plead, “Appoint me to some priestly office so I can have food to eat.” (1 Samuel 2:35-36)
In the Bible, either the Laws of God are written or the incidents that happened in accordance with the laws are written. When the one anointed by God for some purpose disdains it, God rejects him from the place He assigned him and replaces another to his place. The generation of the rejected one will be in the state of adversity to plead the replaced minister of God for their bread.
This might appear to be a judgement that was specifically written for Eli. But there are many incidents in the Bible wherein the anointed one is replaced by another, the generation of the rejected are found to be dependent on the new minister of God. From this we can comprehend that this had not happened to Eli alone, but it is an event that had happened as per the devine law.
Edomites, the offsprings of Esau who sold his birth right to Jacob for a petite stew, were driven to the state of serving Israelites for many years during the predominance of Israelites. “Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah,” denotes 2 Kings 8:22.
“Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the Lord of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the Lord hath indignation for ever.” (Malachi 1:4)
Similarly, Saul who was anointed by God to be the King of Israel, disobeyed God and he was replaced by David. We read in the Bible that Mephibosheth, son of Jonathan, and grandson of Saul was pushed to a state in which he was depending on David for aliment. However, David, who was compassionate, treated him as his own son.
Hence, those who disdain God and the anointing He had bestowed, not only the individual but their descendants will also become miserable. It is the Law. Just in case, if this truth breaks your heart, if you are in guilt as you have disregarded the anointing bestowed by God, this article is for you.
We are in the epoch of the New Covenant. The averral of Grace formed by the blood of Christ is superior to all the other laws. If you have disregarded your anointing, call or ministry, when you repent to Christ and surrender yourselves to Him, He is compassionate and truthful to take you back to help you build your house and make it permanent. Your descendants will also be exalted undoubtedly. Because, He is generously merciful to forgive everything. Hallelujah!
