Miracle = Power
We might have listened to many preachers who say that Gospel is enough to save a soul and miracles are unnecessary. “Because Gospel is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16), I do not deny it. It helps to make men obedient through the Word. However, apostle Paul says that we should also make men obedient through the deeds.
For I will not dare to speak of any things save those which Christ wrought through me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed (Romans 15:18)
Paul describes signs and wonders as power. Gospel must also be preached, and at the same time, signs and wonders should also be done. And simultaneously, the preacher should convey the deeds of God, done through him as testimonies. If someone does this, we accuse it as self-advertising. Nonetheless, Paul says that only when these three things happen, it signifies that the Gospel has been conveyed to the fullest.
By the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. (Romans 15:19)
We should not run away from signs and wonders just because some pretentious people fake it. We should hesitate to tell testimonies in order to be modest, just because some exaggerate the events happened in their ministry to glorify themselves.
We must not avoid doing things just because others do it wrongly. We must do it the right way. God loves that, too.
