What we see is a lie..
Something came along with the entry of Sin into the world. It is called Illusion (Maya). We can understand it either as deception or as a mirage. Both Sin and Illusion rule us through our five senses.
Darkness conceals things. But it does let us know that the things are hidden because of darkness. We can see it, can’t we? But this illusion conceals things as well as itself. We cannot understand that the things are hidden because of illusion. That is why, we Christians should be preached largely about ‘what you see can be a lie, what you hear can be a lie!’
“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 1:2)
It is the truth that you are the temple of God, God lives in you, he surrounds you. But what do our five senses show us? When we are preached about secretive sins, we are asked, ‘will you sin if God is with you? Imagine that God is with you, he comes along with you, you will not sin.’ We have come to such a state.
We need not imagine it. We have to imagine something that is not around us. It is the truth that God is with us. But we trust our five senses and live in an illusion, thinking that He is not with us.
“They that regard lying vanities Forsake their own mercy.”(Jonah 2:8)
Some people think that the peak of spirituality is the growth of realizing God through our five senses. Our five senses will not help us in our spiritual life. We need the eye of faith. Only through that spiritual eye we can step forward to the noble space in spiritual life.
For we live by faith, not by sight (2 Cor 5:7)
