Joseph And Samson
We live in an era, where even the servants of God have forgotten that His (God’s) eyes are too pure to look on evil (Habakkuk 1:13).
We see two servants of God in the Bible. One is Joseph and the other is Samson. God used both of them. Joseph shunned prostituting, while Samson lived with a harlot.
Though God used both of them, the way in which he intervened with both of them is different. The Bible says, the Lord was with Joseph (Gen 39:2) whereas in the case of Samson, it says, the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him (Judges 13:25). It is because of their traits. We can feel that the Lord treated Joseph as his Partner, whereas Samson as an Instrument, when we read about them.
‘God’s work is being done wonderfully. So he will not bother about what I am doing behind the screens.’ If you think as such, then you are betraying yourselves. He is a fair judge. He never neglects a sin. God’s work will be done as he willed. But what happened to the servant? Joseph, who was holy, was crowed at the end, but Samson’s head was shaved at last resulting in shame.
If you say, this is Old Testamentary. Do not ever forget that it is the shadow of New Testament. Let us not betray ourselves that “the righteousness of the Lord is within us.” What goes on the inside, shows on the outside. If there is no righteousness inside, how will it reflect on the outside? This warning is for me, too. May the Lord God guide us!
